It is common for people to believe that heartburn is caused by too much stomach acid. However in this video I explain why this belief is more often than not completely incorrect.
Heartburn is most often caused by:
1. Not enough stomach acid, as the result of H pylori bacteria damaging parietal cells that product acid. When this happens, you cannot digest food properly. The food sits in your stomach and putrefies, giving off gases and causing the burning sensation in your stomach, chest & throat.
2. Normal acid irritating damaged tissue. As we know, H pylori causes gastritis and stomach/duodenal ulcers. If acid comes into contact with these tissue it burns (the amount of acid is irrelevant!). Think of it like this - if you have a cut on your arm and you pour vinegar into it, the cut will hurt like crazy, even with only a few drops of vinegar and a very small cut!
The pharmaceutical companies make a fortune out of anacid medications (Nexium, “The Purple Pill” alone nets more than $10billion per year) and 95% of people don’t even need these meds. Moreover, simply masking symptoms with ese medications can lead to far more serious health conditions.
To overcome heartburn, all that is usually required is a change in diet and the elimination of H pylori if it’s there.
Enjoy the video!
Please note that heartburn can also be caused by more serious medical conditions and structural problems such as a hiatal hernia. Consult your physician if the dietary changes in Overcoming H Pylori Naturally do not help.
Hi there,
In my experience, your course of action should be twofold:
1. If H pylori is resistant to the meds, it will still be there. Seek a test that identifies whether it is still there or not.
2. If your do not get anywhere with your doctor, I run a phenomenal stool test that not only looks for H pylori, but also for many other parasites as well as damage to the digestive tract.
The reason I am so successful in getting rid of these health challenges in my clients is that the testing finds the problem. I simply design clients’ programs based on the testing, and they always work.
Please contact me at dave@davehompes.com if you’d like help with this.

You sound very genuine and knowledgable about this subject. I am struggling with the same problem of H Pylori. I was tested and diagnosed two years ago, took the prescribed medication course of drugs and it worked a treat - I could eat drink and be merry. However the last couple of months I have been popping Rennee’s like sweets and drinking milk by the gallon, like I have done for much of my adult life to reduce what I thought was my stomach producing too much acid. As time as gone by I realised that pastry based and rich foods were the worst for me and I thought this must be because my stomack has not got enough acid to break down the food. This has never been mentioned during doctor consultations ! My father was riddled with cancer of the stomach and died at the age of 52. - his lifestyle left alot to be desired - but he was happy - ignorance is truly bliss but seriously - I am concerned about the longevity of my life and I am the youngest of 5 and all of us suffer from the same symptoms - between us,- my mam has 18 Grandchildren . We are all educated professionals with families and busy lifestyles. I am a smoker (20 a day) and I like a drink, having said that I normally don’t drink through the week but drink a gallon on a Friday and Saturday night!! Obviosly these two things alone undoubtedly contribute massively. I still play County Standard badminton and exercise more than the average.
I am also concerned about the amount of time I am off work because I am sick most mornings, tired and lack motivation at times. As this is a relatively new discovery- treatment, education and understading of individual needs are not met but your videos are the closest similarities that I have seen. I will download your e-book just to see if it works. I am particularly curious as to see how much is caused by lack of acid (if that’s the case) and or diet change. How do you treat, diagnose excess or lack of acid? I have drank hundreds of gallons of milk because it gives me relief and eat thousands of Renee’s what am I doing to my stomach? I get the feeling there are millions of out there who need to be educated before its too late ! Sincerely Damian (Adder).
Hi Damian,
Thanks for your post and questions. Let’s cut to the chase with the serious stuff: three of the biggest risk factors for stomach cancer are alcohol, smoking and H pylori.
You’re really not doing yourself many favours by drinking heavily on weekends and smoking 20 a day.
According to the Federal Drugs Administration in the US, 80% of cancers can be avoided by diet and lifestyle changes.
Therefore I strongly urge you to consider what you’re doing on a daily basis to your body because it will, in the end, determine your health outcome.
I hope my e-book helps, but being realistic, the recommendations can’t really override the detrimental toxic effects of smoking and drinking.
Warm regards,
Dave
I remember being treated for H Pilori some 11 years ago.
I had some blood test exams recently and I tested positive for the same vacteria.
I was given once again antibiotic treatment which I haven’t bought yet.
My symtomps are regular chest pain, nausea, heart burn, a very low energy level. I wake up tired all the time/
My question is: whats happens if i do take the treatment you recomend but my husband won’t. Would it be worth taking it anyway?
Hi Maria,
Thank you for your comment.
Yes it is still worth taking the treatment for H pylori.
If you have low energy levels, you should also adjust your diet ASAP (see http://www.h-pylori-treatment.com) and also have your adrenal function checked by saliva test and your thyroid checked by bloodwork.
Please let me know if I can help further.
Warm regards,
Dave.

December 9, 2009 @ 3:48 amWas diagnosed with H.pylori in October, a couple months ago. I was put on antibiotics and prilosec. The treatment was for 10 days. Was asked to be retested, doctor’s nurse said it was too soon after treatment and that it probably wouldn’t show or something. Said if I began 2 have the same symptoms then to call back. The symptoms I had was nausea, everytime I would eat something I would be sick to my stomach, and heartburn etc. After treatment I no longer have the nausea afer eating but I have the heartburn real bad,in my stomach, chest, and back and like water moving in lower stomach.I was seen by another doctor in emergency because I was having heartburn and a heaviness feeling in the middle of chest and they wanted to make sure nothing was wrong with my heart so they did some test. I was told I had acid reflux and to continue taking prilosec and to do a follow-up with my regular doctor. The prilosec was making me constipated real bad and I still had the heartburn so I made another appointment but seen another doctor and I was told to go back on the pepcid my doctor had originally put me on before i was diagnosed with H.pylori, because it’s not as strong as the prilosec;try that and if still having problems do another follow-up with my doctor. I believe I still have H.pylori cause I never had none of these problems before having H.pylori. I haven’t been my normal self since
